Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 7:30 pm
We will host our First Annual Spring Fling Swing Dance and Bake Sale on Saturday March 21, 2015 in Hart Hall at the Church of the Nativity located at 419 Cedarcroft Road in Baltimore. Contributions are encouraged but not required, and proceeds will go to support the Habitat of the Chesapeake.
The Spring Fling Swing Dance and Bake Sale will start with a free dance lesson at 6:30pm and then the band will start to play at 7:30pm sharp. The Redwine Trio featuring Ben Redwine on clarinet and Tom Mitchell on guitar will swing on through the night until 10:00 pm. Baked goods will be available for purchase throughout the evening (the salty snacks are free.)
An accomplished musician devoted to new classical music and old jazz, Ben Redwine is a lecturer of clarinet at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He retired after 27 years in the US military band system, the majority of time serving as the e-flat clarinet soloist with the US Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, Maryland. He has been a featured soloist at six International Clarinet Association ClarFests in the U.S. and Europe, and is in demand as a freelance musician, performing with many classical and jazz orchestras in the Washington, DC region.
Tom Mitchell has been in the music scene for decades – performing with a wide array of artists including Dan Hicks, Tom Waits, Ricki Lee Jones, Bill Kirchen, Bette Midler and Jay Unger, and Ann Savoy and Her Sleepless Knights which led to a movie soundtrack spot and producer credits for Tom when they recorded Ann Savoy’s song “O Comm’e Les Nuit” for the Sony picture “All the Kings Men.”
